This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 25 awesome third through fifth-grade diverse learning students in a great Chicago Public School. Our neighborhood school is located in southwest Chicago, in a working-class community. The majority of my students come from minority families, who at the present time are struggling financially.

My group of children are a happy and friendly bunch who are eager to come to school and learn.

For many parents the ability to purchase books is not possible.

Checking out a book from a local library seldom happens due to parents working late hours to make ends meet, or not feeling secure enough to allow your child walk to the library. Sadly, those days are gone.

My Project

II am asking for 2 gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers to help purchase digital lessons, that this technologically challenged person, lol, that's me, can only imagine creating. I would like to purchase some more math activities, especially fractions, that the children can manipulate the pieces. As for reading, I would like to purchase graphic organizers, where the children can manipulate the text. For example, preloading the sentences of a given text, out of order, so that the students may be able to click and drag the pieces in order.
