Using Geometry to Draw!

Help me give my students paper, markers, laminating pouches, and pencils to complete and display our geometric transformation project.

My Project

Our students love learning geometry through hands-on projects. It helps students make a connection to the content when they can apply it in a practical way. At the end of our transformation unit, we like to do a dilation project to show students how things enlarge on the graph. We reinforce transformations by completing a cartoon dilation project. The students will take a small picture of a cartoon character and enlarge it on a piece of ledger paper to model dilations. The students color their cartoon with markers to make it look like the original. After the students submit their projects, we like to laminate them and display them around the room.

Not only does this project reinforce the concept of dilations, but students enjoy learning how to draw well-known cartoon characters by using geometry.

Please help me give my students the supplies needed to complete the project and display their work around the room for the remainder of the semester.
