My Project
Students in alternative learning programs most often struggle with managing emotions, controlling unproductive behaviors, and maintaining a positive self-esteem. Unfortunately, these struggles were exacerbated by the pandemic, and the lack of social interaction has caused our most vulnerable students to fall behind in their emotional skill building.
With this program, students will learn how to channel their most difficult emotions into the creation of powerful art pieces.
Students will see that feelings, no matter how difficult they may be to endure, can be great inspirations for artwork. Through acrylic pour painting, hand-lettering activities, and greeting card/gift creation, students will be able to create light and beauty from even the darkest parts of their psyche. We'll also be using our art skills to create lovely displays that help beautify our campus and our community.
In addition, these various art activities will allow our class to explore the different artists and art movements throughout history that have shaped the world around us.
