I teach French in a diverse, high-poverty college-prep high school. I teach all levels of French, and the first two courses are a required in order for students to attend a four-year university. All students at our school must complete these college admission requirements in order to graduate.
My students will need to learn to work and thrive in a multicultural, interdependent world that requires the mastery of new up-to-date technology.
We are currently stretched very thin financially and do not have extra money to introduce these new materials that will help them hone these skills that they will need in college and beyond.
My Project
With a Chromebook (laptop), my students will be able to use a laptop to watch international news broadcasts, communicate with students abroad, building connections to their foreign counterparts while learning how to better understand and use French as a means of communication.
You will make it possible for my students to have access to a variety of new forms of news media and international awareness through Chromebook technology.
Any contribution to this proposal for my students to receive a Chromebook for instructional classroom use will help give my students access to the new and innovative applications that they will need to use in college and in their careers.
