I am trying to make my classroom library more user friendly for my first grade students. Right now my book shelves are so high they have to stand on a chair to get the books. I want my books to be accessible for all my students.
I am a first grade teacher in a low socio-economic school district in rural Oklahoma.
Many of my students do not have access to books in their home. I want my classroom library to be user friendly for my students so they never feel intimidated in my classroom. My students are very energetic and excited about reading, I want my students to know the love of reading like I have.
My Project
I am requesting a low storage shelf for my classroom library books. I am also requesting a small rug for the students to sit and read on. Learning to read is a very important part of being a first grader. I want all my books to be on lower shelves so that every one of my students can get to the books on their own. The rug will give my students a comfortable place to practice their reading fluency skills.
My school is district has been faced with so many state cut-backs that they are unable to purchase new resources for my classroom.
I am passionate about reading and want my students to feel the same way. My students desperately need donors like you to help fund our learning projects.
