US History Through Art

Help me give my students access to art supplies to use for projects where we create 3-D models and paintings.

My Project

As we push into a poetry unit, my students will write a poem on a given US topic they choose. They will be able to choose a topic from way back in colonial time, or they may choose something from the very present. They will be researching this topic and creating presentations. As the research comes to a close, they will create a painting, using the canvas boards to depict their topic, as well as write a poem.

As an ESL teacher, I strive to give my students multiple ways to demonstrate their learning.

Not only do I know my students will love painting a US Historic Event, but they will also be learning about stanzas and figurative language as they construct lyrical poetry. I get so excited envisioning all the art work hanging up in our classroom and I know these are pieces the students will treasure!
