Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a first grade teacher and this is my second year teaching. I am still learning the ins and outs of our public school system, but one thing I know for sure is that we do not receive enough funding for basic needs.
This means we often run out of things like hand soap, paper towels, and toilet paper throughout the year.
Our amazing custodial team does their best to ration out these items in a safe and efficient way. Our bathrooms are mostly stocked, but there certainly aren't enough supplies for our classrooms.
This is why I have started a project for my first grade team of seven teachers with approximately eighteen to twenty students each. This is almost one hundred and forty students just in first grade alone, so you can image that we need some extra help.
These resources will benefit my students by providing basic hygiene needs. Soap and paper towels in our classrooms help our students stay clean before and after breakfast, lunch, snack time, and recess. The toilet paper is a necessary backup for when the bathrooms run out of toilet paper. Thank you for your time and consideration in helping us out!
