Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a history and literature teacher for 9th grade, as well as a multi-level fieldwork teacher. I work at a NYC public school that just started, with students that are at risk of dropping out.
Many of my students have learning disabilities, are English language learners and are at risk of dropping out. Many come from low income homes. They also need skills to help them in school as well as giving them confidence for future jobs.
The reflective journals are a part of improving writing skills. They will also help them with observation skills and critical thinking. It will empower what they are doing with their hands on community construction projects.
Your help for these 25 young kids will give them love and confidence to continue learning through the process of community construction projects!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
