My Students
These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye on March 12th that it would mean that it was our last day in school. However, the year is not over yet and the future in the fall remains uncertain.
My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!
We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate three times a week in Zoom meetings to go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.
My Project
I never imagined that I would find myself remotely counseling and teaching counseling lessons from home, and that my students would be learning through video conferencing calls and recorded home videos. We are charging forward and looking at it as a learning opportunity for all! I work with urban low income families with extremely limited resources. Our district is in the process or distributing technology to our students so that ALL WILL HAVE ACCESS to participate in on line learning this year, enrichment in the summer and possibly in the fall when students would be returning to the classroom but may have to do most of their learning from home. This document camera will allow me to be able to seemlessly show what I am teaching in social emotional and career lessons! My elementary students will benefit from being able to see the lesson and will be more engaged with the virtual learning.
When we return to the brick and mortar building, I will be able to use it in the classroom during guidance lessons and when working with small groups.
