it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In the vibrant city of Oakland, where diversity and resilience intersect, our middle school students are eager to participate in organized sports and learn valuable life lessons through teamwork, dedication, and discipline. Yet, for far too many of our aspiring student-athletes, the dream of participating in activities like basketball or soccer is hindered by financial barriers. We believe that every child should have an equal opportunity to explore their athletic potential, irrespective of their family's financial circumstances. That's why we are launching the "Uplifting the Playing Field" initiative to enhance middle school sports at our school.
We aspire to provide not only the necessary equipment and materials to put away, but also items to provide safety while exploring their sports interests.
Sports materials constantly go through wear and tear, they get lost in the midst of being used, and we want to make sure students have access. By doing so, we want to empower our students to discover their strengths, cultivate teamwork, and develop lifelong skills that will serve them well beyond the sports arena.
