This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first grade students are 6-7 years old. They relish learning and discovering new things. The majority of my students are English language learners whose parents often do not speak or comprehend English. A few of my students are native English speakers. They often have minimal access to books and resources that promote academic and social development in their home settings. Once they enter primary school, they realize they are part of a community that promotes learning, laughter, challenges, and successes. Students commit to becoming lifelong explorers and cultivators of knowledge and learning.

My Project

Through the generous support of Donors Choose supporters, my class and I were gifted with a brand new MacBook Air last week. We needed an additional laptop in the classroom so that projections can be displayed through the duration of the school day. My students asked me to connect the new laptop to our projector right away. However, it completely slipped my mind that the current version of the MacBook Air is not compatible with the projector we currently possess.

One of my first graders immediately responded, “we need a new projector.” Not only is our current projector incompatible with the new laptop, but it also is most likely on the fritz.

It often does not connect to the projector or turns off by itself while students are looking at work samples or charts that are being displayed. A new projector and a usb c adapter will help my students continue working towards mastery of grade level standards and build their love forl earning.
