My Project

At our Title I charter school, many students arrive with limited access to technology at home—but in my computer science classroom, they’re learning to code, create, and collaborate in ways that prepare them for the digital world. To support their growth, I need tools that work as hard as they do.

The laptop I use to teach computer science is failing my students.

It's nearly 10 years old, crashes often, and can’t run the tools and platforms they rely on to learn. These constant tech issues slow down lessons, limit access to real-time coding demonstrations, and interrupt the flow of project-based learning. In a class where the subject is technology, unreliable tech holds us back.

How This Project Helps Students

A reliable, up-to-date laptop will allow me to:

Run live coding demonstrations and real-time debugging

Use student-facing platforms like Code.org, Scratch, and Canva without delays

Provide individualized digital support and accommodations

Deliver smoother, more engaging lessons with fewer disruptions

This isn’t just for me—it’s a key instructional tool that directly impacts how students learn and what they’re able to create.

In computer science, access to current technology isn’t optional—it’s essential. Students deserve the same opportunities to explore, problem-solve, and innovate as their peers in better-funded schools. This laptop will help level the playing field and ensure students at our charter school get the hands-on, future-ready experience they deserve.
