This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A few years ago, I got a temi Robot for my classroom to help my students with interpersonal social skills, but after a few years this robot, like all technology, needs an upgrade now. The V3 upgrade includes a new tablet, new navigation system, and other parts. With the upgrade, temi Robot can help my students practice interacting because it hears, identifies, understands, and responds to the user’s voice using speech recognition, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech engines. It can also help students with questions about math, science, books, authors, titles, and so on. Temi the robot makes a great classroom assistant for my SPED students. This robot helped our classroom in so many ways, including internet searches, voice-activated commands, and it also autonomously goes to whichever student requests for it to help them. Temi’s upgraded tablet display enhances our students' experiences with visuals that invite them to speak, hear and see what they want – creating the ultimate human-robot interaction. The upgrade also includes a new Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system and a ground camera that will help it better navigate throughout the school.
