This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st Century learners, who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 24 curious, third-grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible.
I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
Technology opens the door for limitless possibilities! The capabilities available to students with the Macbook are endless and can steer my students into a world of imagination and success. My students will use the MacBook to integrate differentiated instruction in small groups in our technology center and to work on extension activities for all of my students using programs such as IXL, BrainPOP, Accelerated Reader and Reflex Math, that focus on specific concepts when my students need additional reinforcement. In our technology center, we will use the Write About App that provides writing prompts of different genres, and the AudioBook app that helps readers with fluency! In addition, my students will also use the Macbook laptop to conduct research and make video presentations. They will use the color printer and toner to publish all of their work. This technology is a much-needed resource for my classroom!
Our world is changing before our eyes and being technologically literate is becoming so important.
Many of my students do not have the financial resources at home to purchase digital devices. This grant will provide an equal opportunity for all my students to succeed.
