My Students

My students are eager to explore the world and technologies in the classroom. In my classroom my students live by the quote, "Design. Build. Transform." We are always looking for new and innovative ways to explore technology and the world around us.

I teach middle school technology education to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

We are a public school. There are approximately 120 students in each grade level. Technology education classes are required for all grades. We also offer two elective classes for 7th and 8th grade students.

My Project

The paper shredder will be used shred milk cartons to make their own filament for the 3D printer. They will use the play station for exploring coding and programming. They will use the printer to print out the portfolios for their projects. Students will explore technologies of the modern world. One of my students researched how to make your own filament for a 3D printer using recycled milk cans. By having a paper shredder they will be able to apply their research and save the planet at the same time. The 7th graders will be exploring this project. In 8th grade the students are learning coding and making their own games. We want to take it to the next level of designing Play Station games. We will start by making worlds on the game Little Big Planet. In order to further their education we need the use of a Play Station 3. Students use the design process for all of their projects and make reports for sharing their solutions. In order to do this we need a printer.

I am trying to explore things the students have interests in by connecting to what they enjoy.

Students are enjoying programming and the 3D printer. I want to take their learning to the next level.
