This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am an intervention teacher who teaches 40 sweet, enthusiastic students in the area of reading. My students are kindergartners through third graders, and they represent a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
The excitement that lights my students’ faces when they read a new word or are able to effectively utilize a reading strategy is an inspiration for my teaching.
My students enjoy interactive learning experiences, and my goal is to build an engaging curriculum that boosts their confidence and makes reading enjoyable. One major tool that would make this easier is an updated desktop computer.
The computer that I currently use is old, buggy, and runs very slowly. The last update that was allowed was Windows 7, so some of the newer programs and tools I'd like to use with them are not possible. I am eager to utilize 21st century technology in my classroom, and my students embrace technology in the classroom. They love our interactive slides when they work, and I'd like them to be able to create blending boards and digital word chains. A new computer and operating system will bring this goal to life!
