My students need an iPad to help learn their academics while meeting individual needs. An iPad will allow the EL and autistic children to down load apps specific to them.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fleak's classroom raised $528

My Students
I would love to teach my kindergarten students using new technology. We currently have two desktop computers to share among 28 students. I would love to expand this with an iPad. This will allow all of my students, including my 2 autistic and 18 EL students the ability to meet their needs.
Having a wide range of students....from 18 non speakers, two autistic, and 8 native speakers I could down load individual apps and technology geared to their needs to grow academically.
This would not only help during the school day but also for after school tutoring. My students are in a kindergarten EL classroom in an inner city title one school in Nashville. They are involved in hands-on learning and manipulatives for all subject matter. I feel the students could learn so much more using an iPad to help reinforce reading and math concepts within the classroom.
All of my students qualified for free and reduced lunch. They come to school so excited to learn and a desire to be able to read books. An ipad would allow me a new and advanced method to teach reading and math to my students. All 28 of my students would be able to use and manipulate an ipad to meet individual goals.
My Project
Children can make discoveries through their own exploration using a variety of apps. Children naturally make discoveries and then want to share what they have learned with others. Through this experience children begin to think critically and solve problems in a collaborative way. The idea of sharing then happens. Children are proud of what they have created and then want to share. Having had experience with email, the children will understand that this is a tool they can use to communicate an idea and discovery. As we begin a new year we begin to explore all of the technologies that are available to help us with our learning. iPads have endless ways that could help us interact with what we understand. The children could use their exploration by creating and designing ways that represent a specific number. iPads have these really great stands that we could use, too!
iPads are a wonderful tool that could help us make discoveries, engage us with our learning, make connections and collaborate with others.
iPads could help us learn how to write and recognize letters and numbers. There is even an app that could help us with our counting! The iPads would help reinforce what we know and help us to think more deeply about our learning. The iPad is great because it is lightweight and we could use it anywhere in the kindergarten classroom or outside.
