This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in the preschool classroom, is one part fun, and one part learning. The students love to come to school. They love to learn and play. I want my students to be ready for kindergarten, by the time they leave. Our current materials are extremely dated, and are starting to fall apart.

Currently, we have 21 students in our special needs preschool.

They are full of love and full of energy! Our students have a wide range of disabilities, ranging from a mild speech impairment, to severe delays in speech, cognition, motor, and social emotional skills. They love to learn about new things! Our school is in a lower socioeconomic area. The school is full of great teachers and wonderful students. The community within the school is supportive and encouraging.

My Project

With updated materials, the students will be able to interact more with reading, math, and science. They will be able to use the Early Language Folder game libraries learn to count, get familiar with the alphabet, and improve their language skills. They can use transportation, sea animal, and dinosaur counters to count, sort, group, pattern, or just play. This will tie into our themes, making their learning more relevant. The reading materials will get them on their way to reading, by teaching them letters and letter sounds. The Sea Life and Insect specimen sets will engage them with our current theme and create inquisitive thinking. The Heavy-Duty paper trays will help organize materials throughout the week. The Help-Yourself Supply center and Classroom Carry-All's will help students become independent in the classroom, by providing them with everything they need within reach. The Circle Time Center will provide students with a visual of all the concepts we are learning in one place.

The donations will help engage students and further their learning.

Having a wider range of updated materials will ensure the students are getting the top tier education they deserve. Students will be able to see new things, and learn all about them with your donation. Preschool is all about learning through play and student guided instruction. With more materials, there is a wealth of opportunities for developing new skills.
