My Project
I work on an ICT Classroom (mix of general education/special education students) at a Title I elementary school located in the Bronx, NY. My students have diverse needs and abilities in all areas of academics and social-emotional development. Many of my students live in shelters or subsidized housing, and do not have easy access to all of the materials needed to be successful learners. However, despite the challenges they may face at home, my students are passionate about learning and try to do their best every day!
New York City students are now required to take their state tests online.
Many of their other assessments are moving digital in this high tech world. Currently, my classroom has decade old chromebooks that do not allow for updates and have more missing keys than not. Our students deserve better! We are not even giving them opportunities to practice!
Updated chromebooks that last more than 3 minutes without a charge will make all the difference in my students education. The current chromebooks fo not have the audio and visual capabilities that I need to utilize all the technological components that our curriculum requires this year. Having the right technology to be able to access high-quality digital content for my students will greatly enhance their learning this year!
