Updated Books and a Peaceful Reading Nook Needed

My students need updated books to fill our classroom library and three bean bag to add to our reading corner.

My Students

This project is extremely important to me because some of my students do not understand what "reading for pleasure" means. In order to accomplish this, we need an updated classroom library with a reading "nook" to enjoy our books.

My students are first graders in an urban setting.

They're very creative and eager to learn. Our school is a very welcoming community that values the differences and talents of others. We are a PreK-5th grade school. Every year we continue to grow and improve because of the dedicated students, teachers, staff, families, and community members.

My Project

I really want to dedicate 1/4 of my classroom to a reading "nook". I want beanbag chairs and updated books. My students will use our reading nook throughout the day and year. The books will be organized based on genre and interest. My students will read independently or with a partner.

This project will help close the achievement gap because my students will be exposed to updated books.

They will read more often due to the fact that the books would be high interest and new. Also, my students will appreciate reading.
