This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting books that my students will truly enjoy—stories that reflect who they are, celebrate their diverse backgrounds, and introduce them to new perspectives. Our classroom library is currently filled with mostly nonfiction and outdated books from the 90s, many of which fail to capture my students’ interests or represent their experiences. By updating our collection with engaging, high-quality literature, I hope to foster a love for reading, improve literacy skills, and create a space where every student can see themselves in the stories they read while also developing empathy and understanding for others. A well-stocked, diverse library will not only support their academic growth but also encourage them to become lifelong readers.
