My Project
After COVID-19 and wildfires have devastated our community here on Maui, I am hoping to create a space for healing, togetherness, and a sense of normalcy for the high school students located in Upcountry Maui. More than half of my students are from low-income households and are indigenous, Native Hawaiian. I plan to utilize the Cricut and multiple accessories both individually with students, as well as in "lunch bunch" groups to make creative crafts while creating a sense of togetherness with the students by teaching them healthy coping mechanisms to process their emotions.
