My Project
My passion in education lies within early childhood literacy.
I truly believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn to read and write, no matter their background or abilities.
This comprehensive literacy training would provide me with the knowledge and resources that I need to ensure that every child I work with has access to the learning they truly deserve. Wisconsin has most recently adopted a new law that requires every student is provided with science-based, early literacy instruction, in both universal and intervention settings. This includes instruction that is systematic and explicit and consists of phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics, building background knowledge, oral language development, vocabulary building, instruction in writing, instruction in comprehension, and reading fluency. Through this training I would be able to ensure that all students have the appropriate understanding and practice to be literate.
As a reading specialist, I have two amazing opportunities. Daily, I get to work with students who are in need of intense intervention. I am trying to do everything I can to help them bridge gaps the gaps they have within literacy. I also have the amazing opportunity to work closely with classroom teachers to ensure that we are meeting the needs of every student in our building.
