This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Ouch, my head!" Look out for tumbling math materials!
Can I just tell you how much I love my kindergarten class?
My students rush at me the second I swing open the door to welcome them for another fun day of learning, which makes it tricky to shake their hands. I am so lucky to teach a classroom of bright, vibrant, happy kindergarteners. Our school serves a low-income community where 98% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch assistance, and walking to school can be a scary ordeal given our inner-city setting. In order to serve the needs of the community, I teach Language Arts in Spanish, with the balance of subjects taught in English. My students will be bilingual and biliterate by fourth grade – wow!
My Project
Wonderful donors recently gave my students incredible math games and manipulatives that my kids adore. Unfortunately, my 1957 classroom was built without storage, so the boxes are dangerously stacked in a tower on the one and only bookcase, just within tempting reach of a 5-year old on tippy-toes. Eek! Please give their math manipulatives an organized home that will also keep my eager beavers safe. This Lakeshore storage cabinet will hold all their math manipulatives and games in one location. My students will learn responsibility in the retrieval, care, and return of their materials, and won’t have to lose valuable learning time waiting for me to bring down & pass the materials out.
We’re all working so hard to interest the kids in school and to decrease the high school drop out rates in California.
Not only will your kind donation help enrich my students’ education, but you will also be bolstering California’s future work force. Help us help all. Your generosity will be so greatly appreciated by them, and by me.
Thank you for your consideration.
