My Students
I teach at a Title I school in South Carolina where the majority of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are growing up in a small, tight-knit, community much as I did. As diverse as my students are culturally and economically, they are just as diverse in their learning styles. Many of my students enjoy exploring, playing on iPads or Tablets, playing make-believe, and writing. They work well together and enjoy a variety of multisensory activities.
My Project
My students need a new rug for our gathering space. A meeting area is essential for building a class community. My students need a designated area to meet. Most of our day is spent together on the carpet. This is where conversations and community building takes place! Having a comfortable gathering spot will aide in learning and communication. I also implement flexible seating in our room and a new rug can be a great option! I want my students to be comfortable in our home away from home! With these carpet tiles, my students can choose where to sit in our gathering area.
