My Project
Our students truly enjoy spending time together socially. Unfortunately, indoor recess often centers around a single piece of technology. Whether it’s playing video games, watching videos, or listening to music on a Chromebook, screen time has become the norm—and it’s something this project hopes to change.
Our goal is to bring classic and engaging board games to the classroom.
While these games still provide opportunities to socialize, they also promote essential cognitive and emotional development. Board games encourage problem-solving, memory, and attention to detail. They also help students practice patience, adaptability, and cooperation.
By introducing board games into the school week—especially during indoor recess—we aim to create positive social experiences that support emotional regulation, teamwork, and peer relationships. These games will serve as fun, screen-free options that support the development of lifelong skills.
Our students are amazing and have been identified as needing additional behavioral support. Through these games, we hope to continue strengthening their conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities while improving focus and behavior throughout the school day and beyond.
