This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I wish you could visit my class for a day. You might say "I want to stay here forever," just like many of the students say when it is time to go home. I try my best to make school a welcoming place and learning fun, so that they really value education early on.

My students are kind, fun, loving, intelligent three to five year old people who speak a variety of languages and come from low-income households.

100% of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch. Almost every child is an English language learner. Each and every one of them is a joy to have in my class, and I know that they will succeed despite their numerous challenges.

My Project

One more struggle many students in my class have is a sensory need for various reasons. Part developmental needs, part coping mechanism, these sensory items are more than just a fun thing to play with. They calm down students who have distress, and they build fine motor strength for pre-writing skills.

This addition to our classroom would bring pure joy to students in all kinds of moods.

I anticipate that these items will especially help students who have hyperactive tendencies or lack longer attention spans to calmly build that stamina.
