This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After 31 years of teaching, I know when a good program comes along - especially when it pertains to teaching writing. What is the secret? You have to get the students into EssayPop. For the past four years, this program has not only taught my students to become better writers, but it has also built up their confidence in the written word.
“Ms. Serrano, I can’t believe I just wrote a three-page essay.” “Ms. Serrano, your students just turned in amazing essays in history.” “Ms. Serrano, I feel like what I write is not only good, but it matters.”
EssayPop breaks down the elements of the essay into frames; this way, the students can see the components of the essay in chunks. It also helps students who are stuck by giving them sentence starters. All in all, it’s a phenomenal program, and I would love to give this year’s students this valuable resource.
