My students need giant soft dice, magnetic and shimmering shapes, a color sorting kit, and counting manipulatives.

My Students
“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression.
- Dr. Hiam Ginnot
The students in my pre-K classes are three, four and five year olds that have been screened and found "at risk" for development in either cognitive, language or motor areas.
Developing math skills in the early years is a key component to life skills! Students are naturally curious. With developmentally appropriate materials available, they are able to build not only mathematical proficiency but confidence in their abilities.
My Project
Having a wide variety of manipulatives available will encourage my students to develop an interest in numbers and counting. The "lively launch and match" game and lock games will allow my students to not only identify quantity but identify numerals, too! My students will even be able to learn basic addition with the "Pop & Add to 12 game!" A wide variety of shapes will motivate my students to learn how to classify, pattern, and describe similarities and differences of common objects.
The materials I have chosen are not only developmentally appropriate for young learners, but the games have many different levels of learning available for the many different level of learners in my classroom.
The boys and girls will not only be able to explore with the materials in centers, but they will build a strong foundation for mathematical concepts.
