Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious creative thinkers who thrive when learning is hands-on, immersive, and connected to the world beyond our classroom walls. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and learning needs. Many face challenges that can make traditional learning environments feel limiting. As a special education teacher in a diverse New York City high school, I am always seeking new ways to reach every learner and make instruction more accessible, engaging, and relevant.
That’s why I’m requesting a Meta Quest 3 virtual reality headset to bring cutting-edge educational technology into our classroom.
With the Meta Quest 3, students will be able to experience virtual field trips, 3D simulations, historical reenactments, and collaborative problem-solving activities that enhance comprehension and engagement across content areas. Whether we’re exploring the ruins of ancient civilizations in Global History, conducting virtual science experiments, or practicing real-world communication skills in simulated environments, VR will offer transformative opportunities for students of all abilities to connect with content in meaningful ways.
This technology will especially benefit students with disabilities by supporting visual, spatial, and experiential learning. For students who struggle with attention, reading comprehension, or social interaction, virtual reality offers a structured, stimulating way to stay engaged and practice essential skills.
