This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is a turning point for many students—especially when it comes to reading. Some kids enter the classroom with a love for books, while others struggle to find joy or confidence in reading. That's where graphic novels come in.

Graphic novels are more than just colorful pictures and speech bubbles—they’re a powerful literacy tool.

They combine visual storytelling with rich narratives, helping reluctant readers build comprehension, vocabulary, and a deeper connection to text. For many of my students, graphic novels are the key that unlocks a love of reading.

Your support will help us build a diverse classroom library of high-interest graphic novels that reflect students’ lives, cultures, and imaginations. From realistic stories to fantasy adventures, these books will meet readers where they are—and take them where they never thought they could go.
