My Project
The reading pens will provide my students with the essential support they need to access grade-level texts independently. Many of them struggle with decoding and fluency, which can make reading comprehension feel out of reach. These tools will empower them to engage with complex texts without constantly relying on adult support, allowing them to build confidence, stamina, and comprehension skills while fostering a love for reading.
My goal is to create a more equitable learning environment where every student, regardless of their reading level, has the tools to access grade-level content.
I want to remove the barriers that prevent my students from growing as readers and give them the opportunity to work independently, feel confident in their abilities, and experience success in literacy. By incorporating these reading pens, I hope to see increased engagement, improved comprehension, and, ultimately, measurable growth in their reading levels.
My students are resilient, curious, and eager to learn. Despite their challenges, they come to class every day ready to engage with reading and new ideas. I have been with them for a second year, and I’ve seen firsthand their determination and perseverance. They don’t give up, even when reading feels difficult, and they celebrate each other’s successes. They deserve every opportunity to experience the joy and confidence that comes with making progress, and I want to ensure they have the tools to reach their full potential.
