Unlocking Learning: Adapting Toys to Empower Every Learner

Help me give my students with multiple disabilities the opportunity to engage, learn, and play independently—unlocking new possibilities for growth and inclusion.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Jacobson's classroom raised $534

This project is fully funded

My Project

Our students with multiple disabilities are bright, curious, and eager to learn—but traditional toys and educational materials are often inaccessible to them. This project will provide the tools needed to adapt toys and learning resources, ensuring every child can engage in meaningful play and hands-on learning experiences.

With the help of soldering kits, adaptable toys, and specialized adaptation tools, we will modify off-the-shelf toys and educational materials to meet our students’ unique needs.

For example, a simple toy that requires fine motor skills can be adapted for switch access, allowing a child with limited mobility to activate it by pressing a button. These adaptations foster independence, promote motor skill development, and enhance communication while making learning fun and accessible.

Our goal is to break down barriers to participation by creating a classroom where every student—regardless of ability—can engage, explore, and thrive. With these resources, we will:

1. Adapt a variety of toys and learning materials to meet individual student needs.

2. Encourage independence and confidence through accessible play.

3. Empower our team to continue creating custom tools that evolve with our students' abilities.

What makes our students special is their resilience and eagerness to connect with the world around them. Despite the challenges they face, they approach learning with curiosity and joy. By providing adapted materials, we will offer them new opportunities to participate fully, fostering a sense of belonging and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Your support will make a profound difference by giving our students access to the tools they need to play, learn, and succeed—because every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of discovery.
