This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am incredibly fortunate to work with a group of students who are eager to learn and grow in their communication skills. Each student brings their unique strengths, personalities, and challenges, and I am committed to helping them succeed. They are full of potential and deserve the best resources to help them thrive.

The books I am requesting will make a significant impact on their learning by providing rich, engaging content that fosters language development, storytelling, social skills, and emotional expression.

These books are specifically chosen to encourage students to connect with the characters, expand their vocabulary, and develop a deeper understanding of their own emotions and the world around them. For example, books that feature clear narrative structures will support students in sequencing events, building comprehension, and improving their story-telling abilities. Other books will help with answering questions, discussing emotions, and enhancing social skills in an interactive, fun way.

My goals for this project are to build a dynamic library that supports speech and language goals for a wide range of students. The goal is to create a space where students can engage in meaningful conversations, retell stories, and build their communication confidence.

What makes my students special is their perseverance and curiosity. Despite their challenges, they approach every lesson with enthusiasm and a desire to improve. Whether it’s working through speech sound production, increasing expressive language, or expanding their vocabulary, they come to each session ready to make progress. By providing them with these resources, I can help them unlock their full communication potential and empower them to share their unique voices with the world.
