This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Although all of my English Language Learners face unique strengths and challenges, they are all working on their reading and writing skills. Because many of them have interrupted schooling or did not attend pre-school/school in their home countries, they tend to fall behind in reading and writing. Because visuals are a huge support for English Language Learners in their learning journey, these phonics kits are perfect! The sounds are divided into the appropriate categories to aid in understanding which sounds/sound pairs they need to use. It also allows students to try the word in multiple ways- sound in isolation, blending, and writing the word.
These materials will encourage students to gain confidence in their reading and writing abilities, while also giving them an alternative to practice, as opposed to paper and pencil.
The binders and sheet protectors would help to organize their supplemental phonics worksheets into sequential categories for teaching. Thank you for considering our phonics project!
