This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love hands-on learning and real world objects, such as locks and keys. This project will provide my students with the “keys” to building alphabet and numeracy skills!
Your donation will provide my students with three learning resources to use during our math and literacy small groups.
The first resource are alphabet locks. These learning locks help kids recognize uppercase and lowercase letters and explore letter sounds. My students will simply choose a key with a letter on it and match it to the letter or to the picture on the lock. When they make a successful match, the key will turn and the lock will open for instant reinforcement!
The second resource are number lock toys These locks will help my students unlock the power of numbers! These corresponding keys and locks will give my students hands-on practice with number recognition, matching and counting from one to twenty, while building motor skills! My students will simply match the number on a key to the number word or amount of stars on a lock. If the numbers match, the key will turn and the lock will open for instant reinforcement!
The third resource is for pom poms. Pom-poms add fuzzy fun to all kinds of projects including letter collages and numbers. Students will glue pom poms onto a letter or number which we will later hang on our classroom bulletin boards to create a word wall and number board. Students can later return to the alphabet board and number board to identify the letters and numbers they have learned.
