My Project

Join me in creating more opportunities for young children to develop their pre-reading skills with engaging and thoughtfully designed materials.

What We Have Now:

Our Montessori Language Shelf currently features six well-loved sound boxes. These boxes help children connect beginning sounds with cursive letters of the alphabet using vibrant, meaningful pictures. Each box contains a mix of letters, such as "s, m, a, t," rather than the traditional "a, b, c, d," encouraging true recognition and understanding instead of rote memorization.

Children delight in exploring these boxes, eagerly looking for new pictures added during rotations. This work promotes independence, builds confidence, and reinforces essential early literacy skills in a hands-on way.

Goals:

While the sound boxes are a hit, the quality of the materials is limited. Our color printer is no longer functional, and the school’s printer doesn’t provide the vibrant images these children deserve. With your support for a printer and laminating pouches, we can upgrade these materials and introduce varied levels of difficulty to meet the needs of all learners.
