This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low income neighborhood. Unfortunately, they are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. For instance, not being able to play catch outside due to gang violence. In order for them to stay of the street they rely on after school programs. Our school is located in the south side of Chicago. Which is considered one of the worst areas of the city. This makes it a bit complicated to receive funding for my students.

My Project

I'm requesting helmets and bat bags for our baseball team. As many people may know, after so many uses equipment needs to be replaced. Children who get involved in an extra curricular activity or sport have shown a positive turn out in grades and behavior. The materials will give them the opportunity to be compliant to play baseball with other schools. When everyone on the team is dressed like a team it helps them boost how they feel about themselves. The backpacks will help my students carry personal items and baseball equipment without worrying if they forgot something. The helmets will provide them the proper safety equipment. Just picture yourself standing in a batters box without a baseball helmet.
