I have been teaching AP Government and Politics for the last 8 years. The textbooks that we have are no longer aligned to the AP test. The book that we currently use includes a lot of unnecessary information and is not organized in a way that College Board recommends the class be taught. As a result, students are forced to skip around in our current text, and also read a lot of content that will simply not be on their AP exams.
I am brainstorming ways to improve my class next school year, and that includes the need for new textbooks.
I realize that new books for one hundred students are very expensive, so I am willing to purchase these books slowly over time. I already have five from last school year, and am now looking for 16 more. Slowly, but surely, I believe that I can get enough books for all of my students. Currently, each book sells for $24 on Amazon, and I am looking to build a class set to start.
Any financial help towards this goal is appreciated and welcomed. In the age of technology and online learning, I believe that my AP students deserve a physical textbook. I want them to experience what a true college level class feels like, and that includes reading from an actual book. With your financial help and my hard work, I believe that we can prepare the students to get a 5 on their AP Gov test.
