My students like the idea of playing with money. They think it is fun to buy and sell. It's exciting to trade money for goods. As a teacher, I know how important it is to not only teach my students the massive math skills that come with learning about money, but also about financial literacy, how to save, and when to spend.
My students what cash registers to use as they play their homemade Monopoly games to learn how to budget their money!
Students worked in groups to design Monopoly games out of pizza boxes that represent communities they would like to visit such as PowderPuff Land, Roblox World, and MineCraft Universe. They had to figure out the needs and wants of these new worlds, create a pricing structure to buy, rent and sell the properties, and think how board games work when it comes to play.
These cash registers would motivate my students even more to check their math skills and know when they are right!
