Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Unified Sports is an after school program that promotes building relationships, confidence and kindness between non-disabled peers and special needs students. There is often not much funding for equipment that is used. The students compete in soccer, basketball, corn hole and other easily modified exercises. The materials requested would help expand the program as well as provide new equipment instead of hand me downs from our varsity teams. The students involved in this program develop connections not typical of high school students. Students learn empathy, kindness and compassion through physical activity.
