Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students only have access to old basketball jerseys. We do not have enough for all grade levels participating in any sport. I would like for my students to experience the feeling of teamwork and respect.
I work in a large urban district that is underperforming and there is a decline of student enrollment, as well as, diminishing tutoring and afterschool programs.
The majority of the students receive free lunch and very few are on reduce price lunch status. The students featured in this entry are my fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade and eight grade students. They are students eager to learn and be active. The students are mainly Hispanic a couple especial education students.
My Project
These Jerseys and goal nets are common pieces of equipment used in my after school soccer program. They are a useful source to encourage students to engage in extracurricular activities. These tools will be used in combination with other tools and materials to adequately address important learning objectives pertaining to participation. I need 16 jerseys so my students feel like they belong to a team. I need 2 goalie nets so we can participate in full capacity against other schools.
Donations to this project will improve their interest in content heavy ideas of leadership and teamwork. Give my eager students a chance to succeed in extracurricular activities.
My students need soccer jerseys and soccer nets that can help them learn skills used in extra curriculum activities and then transfer them into the classroom setting in our school.
