This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a low-income school district, I want to provide all I can for my students to have the most memorable educational experience. Our students come from very diverse backgrounds. We have over 1100 students in our school. Over 80% of which receive free or reduced-price lunches daily. Over half of the student body is Latino and we have an extremely large ESL population.
The goal of this project is to make sure all students have access to what they need to be prepared for school each day.
These sweatshirts and sweatpants will be kept in our office and distributed to those in need as they are identified throughout the remainder of the school year. I hope by providing these uniform staples to our students they will be able to come to school confident and enthusiastic to learn instead of having to worry if they have something to wear.
Uniforms help create a sense of unity among students as well as keep our schools safe. Unfortunately, many parents/guardians in our community area are unable to afford uniforms for their middle school students. Our students deserve to focus on their studies without worrying if they will have clothes to wear to school and be kept warm. Please help me provide our students with some uniform essentials and a little peace of mind this winter.
Thank you so much for your help with this project and for supporting public schools - especially my equity-focused public school!
