My Students

My students are amazing! Our school is located in a rural part of central California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We love our community and the natural resources we have in our area.

Many of my students come from middle to low income families.

My students come to school every day excited to learn something new and ready to take on a new challenge. While our students have many obstacles in their lives they persevere and succeed.

My Project

Every year my students really struggle with number sense and mental math strategies. The double sided dice, the multiplication power pens, and the hand on place value place value kits with help with both of these concepts. The Math Quiz Game Show will be helpful when asking students demonstrate understanding.

Students need to "see" how mathematical thinking is done.

These hands on materials will help my students understand how to use place value and mathematical strategies to be stronger math students.

Basis concepts, such as rounding, multiplication facts practice, and reading large numbers well as putting numbers in expanded form will be taught using the materials listed above.
