This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These are unprecedented and scary times for all of us, but imagine how our students and parents feel.

My students and I have embarked on our social emotional learning journey!

I am committed to continuing to provide my students with the necessary tools they will need in their educational journey. My students and I participate in daily feelings journals where we share how we are feeling. It can be hard for those students that do not know how to express themselves.

Our way of teaching has changed due to COVID-19. We have to continuously look for ways to reach our students on a daily basis. This has been so hard on my preschool special education students and their families. My students thrive in a sociable setting that I try to bring into everyday lessons.

These materials will ensure equitable and inclusive creativity and social-emotional education for all. It is important for me to give my students the quality and quantity of education they deserve. With that being said, I have thought of how my students feel and my new students that have not yet experienced what it is like to be in a classroom for the first time, and how they would feel meeting new friends and embarking on their educational journey.

With these materials, I will be able to go over emotions in a way my preschool special education students will be able to understand. They will have access to sensory, sensory mats, labels and carrying case for their personal sensory toys added to our calming corner. The backpack will serve to carry sensory toys to outdoor and field trips for easy access to help with their social and emotional needs.
