This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I service students with all different developmental levels that come from all different cultural backgrounds and income levels. No matter what their story is, they are welcomed with open arms into my office to work towards their individual goals in order to progress in their educational career.
In my room, we target expressive and receptive language, articulation, phonemic awareness, daily living skills and pragmatic skills.
I strive, as their SLP, to make them feel proud for showing even the smallest improvement, and if no improvement is being seen, I still like to positively acknowledge their willingness and drive to try.
My Project
I am looking for the opportunity to have a place to keep important documents.
By law, all student documents must be kept under lock and key.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) contain personal information related to a child's special education needs, along with identifying information. Unfortunately, my school is unable to provide a locked cabinet for me to keep my student's IEPs due to significant budget cuts. With a file cabinet, I can successfully store (and efficiently utilize) all pertinent documents related to my speech students on a daily basis. I can check individual goals and needs all while accessing the documents from my own office!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
