This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low economic area of our school district. I teach Science and love to give my students hands on experiences, but it can be costly. In order to achieve this and have a very positive impact on my students, they are in need of materials. I am asking for donations to help build up our classroom supply of lab materials.
We have been displaced from Hurricane Harvey and most of our equipment has been lost.
This makes it very hard to perform the labs in our curriculum.
After working in this area for over 10 years, I see that many of these children are driven and have aspirations, they just do not always have the proper guidance. I would love to give them experiences that do not come with their everyday living, by having necessary materials in my classroom to give them positive experiences.
My Project
Since we have been displaced from our home campus, our classroom is a cluttered mess. The supplies that I am requesting for my students will make passing out supplies easier in the classroom. The organizational baskets and caddies will be filled with the groups everyday supplies (scissors, pencils, colors, and glue sticks). This will keep the traffic down in the classroom and the students will have everything they need for the day at their groups. The buzzers will help when playing classroom games, so we know which group can answer the question first. The mini dry-erase boards will be used during class for students to write an answer to questions during our lessons. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
