Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Are we supposed to teach science too? I teach kindergarten at a Title I school in Albertville, Alabama. Most of our students receive free or reduced lunches and 40-45% of them come different ethnic backgrounds.
As teachers, we are pushed to the max to teach reading and math most of our instructional day. Everything we do must revolve around literacy concepts. While I feel this is very important, science and social studies sometimes get swept under the rug. I feel like I can integrate science in with my literacy themes, but I need the proper materials to make this happen.
This is where I need your help. My students deserve to learn about our world and the way things work. I am asking for the magnet kit to start us a science center. This kit comes with everything we need such as magnetic wands, chips, balls, and more plus a resource guide. I am also requesting the science trays from Lakeshore Learning. There are 4 trays that teach colors, magnets, sounds, and magnifiers. Each comes with the resources need for my kindergarten students to explore. Isn't that a fun way to learn?
I want to thank you in advance for making it possible for my children to explore and learn through science. My children will be amazed when they find out what colors you can make by mixing primary colors, what a starfish really looks like up close, and that magnets can float in midair. Thanks again for allowing me to bring wonder to life!
