Ultimate Physics: Riding the WAVES

My students need 2 CPO equipment sound and wave generators to perform experiments related to wave frequency, velocity and interference.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Schneck's classroom raised $1,105

My Students

Waves move. I think we can all agree with this. They are not just stagnant drawings in a text book or on a chalk board which is how many high school students learn about them. Seeing and experimenting is the best way to understand wave motion.

My physics students are faced with a lack of technology in the classroom everyday which makes learning resort to makeshift equipment or dry textual readings from dated books that the most brilliant mind would find boring including me.

Why shouldn't my physics students enjoy a top notch technology rich environment? Many of my students are used to the exact opposite. It's is wrong and my aim is to change this.

My Project

These wave and sound generators will provide visual representations like no other. Learning about wave speed, frequency, beats, interference and harmonics poses a challenge for most students to learn even when the most colorful chalk is used to express it on a green board by the best instructor. An actual moving visual representation where students can manipulate variables while performing an experiment is the best way to learn it. Having equipment like this in the classroom not only creates a technology rich environment, but it sparks genuine interest from all students when they see real scientific equipment being used. I haven't known one student who doesn't like to participate in amazing engaging laboratory activities especially when they feel like real physicists. This equipment will give all students the opportunity to excel in a way that they haven't experienced.

Donations to this project will make such a huge impact for all my current and future students.

Smiles, engagement and wonder are just a few experiences my students will share when they see this sound and wave generator in action. Not to mention their genuine interest in pursuing the sciences in college. And, it is neat. I used a similar apparatus in college without which my own understanding most likely would have been in error.
