Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are SO excited about music. They take every opportunity we put in front of them, and they work hard. They are amazing musicians and even more amazing human beings.
I love my students' commitment and passion for music.
Santa Maria is Title I, and the kids have a lot of hurdles to jump to be successful at school, but they are able to accomplish everything they set their minds to. They're silly, creative, kind, and truly genuine people. They LOVE music and they deserve every opportunity in the world!
My Project
I am starting a new choral program and want to give students a unique and exciting music opportunity. I will have several students who may not have chosen to take my class, but have something they can be passionate about. I want my students to become successful musicians by learning theory and giving them a unique, hands-on technique. Mostly, I want them to be excited about music and be inspired and fulfilled to have music in their lives forever.
I will implement ukulele practice into my classroom by choosing repertoire that the students are able to play along with.
We will review strumming patterns, chords, song structure, note names, the theory possibilities are endless! Plus, the kids will be learning a skill to enrich their lives that they will have forever!
